Shelter from the Storm

In addition to my own stock and assignment photography which I have been doing for over twenty years, for the past five years I have also assisted for my good friend Kirk Gittings, one of the top architectural photographers in the southwest.

Now, New Mexico Magazine has published a new book, Shelter from the Storm: The Photographs of Kirk Gittings written by Gussie Fauntleroy with an introduction by V.B. Price. This is the second volume in the New Mexico Magazine Photo Series.

The book contains a tightly edited selection from Kirk's thirty years of photographing in New Mexico. Some of Kirk's best known black & white photographs of New Mexico, including the ruins at Chaco Canyon, ancient churches of northern New Mexico as well as color photographs of some of the state's most contemporary buildings are presented in this small, elegant volume.

Shelter from the Storm: The Photographs of Kirk Gittings can be ordered now from the New Mexico Magazine Gift Catalog and Amazon.com or look for it beginning July 1, 2oo5 in your favorite book store. For anyone who loves New Mexico and the southwest, this should be a "must have" book.

Additionally, The Albuquerque Museum of Art & History will be presenting Kirk Gittings: Shelter from the Storm Photographs, an exhibit of photographs from the book. The exhibit will be up from September 11 thru December 4, 2005. Please check The Albuquerque Museum of Art & History upcoming events calendar or The Albuquerque Museum Foundation for the date and time of the opening reception.
